I see that it's been almost a year since I last blogged about anything! It's not a habit of mine to write a diary or a journal of any sort, since I could most likely be held ransom by something I've written in it. But for reasons I will explain in another post, I want to start keeping a record on my life.
For now, let's start with the year that has past us all by, 2005!
I can't remember every single thing that's happened, so here are the highlights:
1) I left the army!
It's been quite a fun trip, and it was quite a cultural shock when I left, cos life on the outside was really really different from my life inside. There were many occasions I slept in the afternoon in my beloved CAI, many times i've spent the entire day just playing computer games, watching movies and anime. And let's not forget the television shows that we downloaded! Gosh...
But I'm grateful that I'm no longer under the constant threat of restricting my freedom, the threats of being charged by power-hungry senior officers. I've made my peace with them tho, and I'm a lil more grateful to the ppl in my life.
It's unfortunate tho, that it would seem I lose contact with those army brothers of mine once they leave, or once I left. It's something I would like to change, but as it stands, I really have very little time. Sigh...
2) Church
I got through my first year as a president! This year is one whereby I did something that every other president before me has pushed off to the next. The groups got split.
I'm forever grateful to Moses for offering to start a new group. I had trouble trying to reach out to 30 kids without leaving anyone out. There have been a few that required special attention, and in turn I had to neglect some others. It was pretty stressful for me, and I stopped accepting ppl into my group. Moses saw this, and decided to start another group. Tho what he had in mind was slightly different, we managed to work out a compromise.
I asked the kids to choose. I wanted them to pick their leader. The last thing I wanted is for them to be unhappy under my leadership by force.
So they made their decisions. Most of the girls stayed with me, and most of the guys left. It's been working out so far, but I can personally feel a drift between the 2 groups now. I think it's fine, cos we both need our individual identities. But others might beg to differ.
Tripartite Camp worked out fantastically! We all had fun this year and everyone's looking forward to the next one. The thing is, I'm so tired after all the late night meetings, the tempers, etc.. I didn't really wanna plan this upcoming one. I was quite happy to be a participant instead of an organiser. Still, it's all gd. I'm still gonna do it.
Youth Walk was a killer! Gosh. I don't even wanna remember it in great detail. However, I'm grateful for these new ppl in my life, like Camilla, Andre, Jillene and Grace. Just thought it would be nice to mention them.
Christmas Dinner & Dance! I had fun preparing the stuff with Bernadette, and we had fun attempting to sing. thank God that on the day itself, the music was too loud. LOL! Sure get kicked out from Singapore Idol. If can get thru, then it's probably just to add to the bloopers in the show.
I think plenty of misc stuff happened during the year that at this moment I cannot recall, but it's probably not all that important.
3) Personal life
Well, had my heart broken once or twice already, but I'll survive. LOL! Wait till u hear what happened this year...
Spent most of this year with my kids, getting to know them better, building the bonds and stuff. It's been really gd, cos I've learnt a lot in dealing with teenagers. Prepares me in case Elizabeth runs down that rough and rocky road. LOL!
I do love them deep deep. Just thought I would write that down for future reference.
And I'm done! 2005 was exciting, cos many changes took place. 2006 is already having a fantastic start tho, so I'm pretty sure I'll have a lot more to say in a year's time.
Look out for it!
